Accounts Examiner I
The Acccounts Examiner I position is the entry-level position within the department. College graduates with
a degree in Accounting are eligible for employment as an Accounts Examiner I. These positions are located throughout
the State of Alabama. The starting salary for new graduates is typically step 6 of pay range 72. New employees serve
a one-year probationary period. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, employees are granted a
permanent status in the State Merit System and are eligible for a pay increase.
State Intern
Internships are available for those individuals who are currently juniors or seniors in college and pursuing their
degree in Accounting. These positions are part-time, conditional appointments. Interns are not eligible for benefits
provided to other state employees such as holidays, retirement, leave or insurance.

from eligible lists made up of people who have successfully passed an examination,
or have met the minimum requirements for a training and experience evaluation. Each
examination is based on the kinds of experience, training, and knowledge needed
for a particular job.
